Sarah Silverman, spokesperson for the Satirists Union Local 277 stated today in a press conference that “Outgoing President Trump’s continued absurd behavior is seriously jeopardizing the livelihoods of tens of thousands of Americans.”
Silverman said, “Comedians, satirical writers and the organizations they write for are all in true peril due to Trump’s actions. How can you write political and societal satire when a political leader and his 72 million followers are more absurd than any satire which can be considered? This is a dire situation. The Onion, for instance, a bastion of satirical news second only to Leuterers News Service with humor, wit, and the creativity of its content has laid off over half of its staff just in the last week.”
Silverman concluded the press conference with a plea, “To outgoing loser President Trump and your millions of midget minded minions, please, please walk it back from total and complete idiocy to simply being stupid, dumb and moronic as you once were in better times. If not for us here at Local 277 or the Local near you then do it for the family member or loved one who makes a living out of laughing at you.”
