Trader Joe’s Wins Highly Coveted Finkelstein Award For Grocery Eclecticism

The votes are in and Trader Joe’s has won the Finkelstein Award. The Finkelstein is the grocery industry’s most prestigious and highly sought after award for Grocery Store Eclecticism. The Finkelstein is awarded once every four years. Finkelstein Foundation Board members vote in a sealed and secret balloting process which is overseen by a baker’s dozen of independent election observers.

The current holder of the Finkelstein Award is Whole Foods, an Amazon Company. The time honored peaceful transfer of the award from Amazon owner Jeff Bezos to Trader Joe’s will occur on January 20, 2021.

Foundation spokesperson and heir to the Finkelstein fortune Sheila Finkelstein stated to a Leuterers reporter, “I think what really put Trader Joe’s over the top was their most recent Holiday item offerings, specifically their Advent Calendars for Pet Snakes. They’ve long had the dog and cat calendars but the snake calendar is brilliant. Featuring non-GMO organic free-range mice coated in chocolates from Madagascar, Uganda and Zimbabwe it’s preservative free because the mice are still alive. The mice are humanely induced into comas before being dipped in the chocolate and sealed under the little calendar cardboard flaps. Now pet snakes the nation over may join with dogs and cats in celebrating the Holidays. The Finkelstein Foundation applauds Traders Joe’s commitment to diversity and inclusiveness.”
