Wall Street announced today that it would be re-branding the iconic sculpture known as Charging Bull to Charging Steer. In a press conference held on Broadway in New York’s Financial District, where the famous statue is located, Wall Street Public Relations spokesperson, Aashirya Abernathy-Jones-Steinberg explained, “This is about inclusivity.”
She went on to say, “Charging Bull has long been associated with the vigor and vitality of our financial markets. And there is no reason to exclude women and/or non-gender affirming others any longer from feeling that they too, may be a part of this vigor and vitality. And for that reason he, Charging Bull, following some corrective cutting, grinding, and sanding underneath the sculpture, will be referred to as They, the Charging Steer.
“We feel the time is right for this because as some may know, a steer is a neutered bull, thus it can spend comfortable time in a non-threatening manner with cows and as well, is equally non-threatening to bulls. A steer is, in essence, gender non-specific and some might even go so far as to say it is a gender fluid bovine, and as such represents and honors the non-sexualized inclusivity, we wish to honor in welcoming a widely diverse field of investors and traders into the marketplace.”
Ms. Abernathy-Jones-Steinberg concluded her remarks with the following, “To help support the statement of diversity being made here and all across this great nation we will be auctioning off Charging Bull’s balls at Sotheby’s on Monday of next week.”
